Thailand had already taken important steps by adopting a National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. With EU legislation (like the CSDDD and EU Forced Labour Regulation) advancing rapidly, Thai lawmakers sought to position the country as a leader in responsible business conduct in Asia. The European Union supported this ambition by funding a technical assistance project.
